Kaiser Transportation

Medi-Cal members can get help with transportation

Kaiser Permanente Medi-Cal members may be able to get nonmedical transportation to and from a medical appointment or service.

To use nonmedical transportation, you must:

  • Be a Kaiser Permanente Medi-Cal member
  • Have no other way to get to your scheduled appointment or service
  • Be able to get in and out of the vehicle without any help from the driver

You can get transportation to:

  • Go to a doctor appointment
  • Get medical services like lab work or X-rays
  • Pick up medicine that can’t be mailed to you
  • Pick up medical supplies or equipment

To request nonmedical transportation

For routine appointments:

  • Rides are available Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Call at least 3 days before your appointment, or as soon as possible.

For urgent needs:

  • If you’re discharged from the hospital or have an urgent request, you can call for a ride 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When you call, have the following information ready:

  • Your Kaiser Permanente medical record number (found on your Kaiser Permanente ID card)
  • The address of your medical appointment
  • The date and time of your appointment
  • What time to pick you up after the appointment

Transportation

NVTA: VineGo Paratransit

VineGo is a shared ride paratransit service that provides transportation curb-to-curb within three quarters of a mile from where the fixed route bus system operates. In order to use the service, individuals must be certified. Eligibility is determined for individuals with physical and/or cognitive limitations that prevent them from riding or accessing the regular Vine bus services. Rides can be scheduled up to seven days in advance and cost $4.00 or $8.00 each way, depending on the length of the trip.

Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA)

The Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) serves at the Congestion Management Agency for Napa County, responsible for programming state and federal funds for local projects.  A Joint Powers Authority, NVTA handles the county’s short-and long-term regional transportation planning, working closely with its local, regional, state and federal partners to improve Napa County’s streets, highways, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

NVTA also manages the Vine Transit system, providing local fixed-route service in Napa, door-to-door paratransit (called VineGo) for riders who cannot use or access the fixed route system, community shuttles and regional bus service throughout the Valley to key transportation hubs like the San Francisco Bay Ferry Terminal in Vallejo, the El Cerrito del Norte BART station, and the Capitol Corridor Amtrak at Fairfield/Suisun station.

Vine Transit: American Canyon Transit

American Canyon Transit (ACT) is an on-demand, door-to-door, transit service that operates within most of the American Canyon jurisdiction boundaries. Service is offered Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:30PM. Riders can request a ride by calling 707-557-7557, using the mobile app Ride the Vine, online at ondemand.transloc.com or by flagging down the shuttle. ACT also operates a limited fixed-route service with four trips in the morning and one in the afternoon. The cost to ride is $1.00 for adults and $0.50 for youth (ages 6-18), seniors, and passengers with disabilities.

Vine Transit: Calistoga Shuttle

An on-demand transit service within Calistoga city limits for the general public. No advanced reservations required. The Shuttle is wheelchair accessible and connects with Vine Transit routes 10 and 29.

The Calistoga shuttle is an on-demand door-to-door transit service within Calistoga city limits, and a select few outside locations, for the general public. Riders can request a ride by calling 707-963-4229, using the mobile app Ride the Vine, online at ondemand.transloc.com or by flagging down the shuttle. The shuttle is available Monday – Thursday from 7:00AM – 7:00PM, Fridays from 7:00AM – 9:00PM, Saturdays from 8:15AM – 9:00PM and Sundays: 11:00AM – 9:00PM (May 1st – November 30). The cost to ride is $1.00 for everyone.

Vine Transit: Lifeline Taxi Program

Under the Taxi Scrip program, eligible City of Napa residents may take a cab ride anywhere within the City of Napa and NVTA will pay up to 50% of the cost of the cab ride. To be eligible you must be a resident of the City of Napa and be a person 65 years of age or older, or certified to use VineGo Paratransit service, or a person with disabilities. Enrollees can purchase taxi tickets for up to half the cost or a regular taxi ride. Each booklet costs $10 (maximum of 3 booklets per month) and includes $20 worth of taxi tickets.
