Medi-Cal members can get help with transportation
Kaiser Permanente Medi-Cal members may be able to get nonmedical transportation to and from a medical appointment or service.
To use nonmedical transportation, you must:
- Be a Kaiser Permanente Medi-Cal member
- Have no other way to get to your scheduled appointment or service
- Be able to get in and out of the vehicle without any help from the driver
You can get transportation to:
- Go to a doctor appointment
- Get medical services like lab work or X-rays
- Pick up medicine that can’t be mailed to you
- Pick up medical supplies or equipment
To request nonmedical transportation
For routine appointments:
- Rides are available Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Call at least 3 days before your appointment, or as soon as possible.
For urgent needs:
- If you’re discharged from the hospital or have an urgent request, you can call for a ride 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When you call, have the following information ready:
- Your Kaiser Permanente medical record number (found on your Kaiser Permanente ID card)
- The address of your medical appointment
- The date and time of your appointment
- What time to pick you up after the appointment
